- hot Rectal Lavage
- warm Anal Douche

Tenesmus: pain in hollow muscular organs due contraction of the muscle due to irritation from inflammation of the mucous membrane.
For rectal or vesical tenesmus:
- hot Sitz Bath prolonged until pain relieved with
- just a dash of cold water after - may be omitted or
- Revulsive Sitz or
- large Fomentations to abdomen or hot Hip Pack
- hot Vaginal Irrigation
In rectal tenesmus
- a small Hot Enema or Starch Enema before Sitz Bath or Fomentations
- hot Rectal Irrigation
After operation:
- hot or Revulsive Sitz for analgesia
