Chronic invalids (due to Neurasthenia, Chronic Inflammation or suppurative lesions) have unbalanced vasomotor control, worsened again by surgery. This means that slight chilling during or post surgery results in retrostasis, internal congestion and worsening of existing inflammation. This is treated by:-
- Graduated Tonic Cold for 10days before especially
- Diaphoretics every 2-3 days - also enhances elimination
To increase elimination, decrease Toxaemia and thus reduce
- Nervous System Irritability :-
All the above improve wound healing and increase leucocytosis thus preventing post-operative infections of the wound, lungs or elsewhere.
