Care of the Bedbound Chronically Ill Patient
Use:
To prevent:
- Joint Contractures and Stiff Joints...
- All joints, especially of the legs, are moved through their full range every day.
- Phlebothrombosis (Clots in the leg veins)
- Ask patient to move his feet up and down frequently if he is able
- Move the legs if the patient is unable to
- Massage the legs
- Alternate Compress to lower legs
- Bed Sores
- Atelectasis (Collapsed Lung)
- Alternate to the Chest, very cold to encourage deep breathes. Every 3 hours
- Squeezing chest as patient exhales to encourage deep breathes
- If able 10 deep breathes and a cough every hour
