• acute Swollen Painful Joints

• Very cold, wrung dry, protected, at night, with
• in-morning cold Wet Hand Rub then
• Oil Rub then
• dry flannel bandage during the day
• Fomentations before and after

• chronic Stiff Joints
• Articular Effusions

Use wrung gauze or cotton wool held in place by flannel and bandage

• use dry after rubbing on analgesic solution in
  • Rheumatoid Arthritis or
• Synthetic oil of wintergreen diluted in 2 parts of eucalyptus oil in
  • Rheumatic Fever

Can soak cotton wool in menthol/alcohol solution or bicarbonate soda or mustard in water solution.
