Predisposing factors:

• Dyspepsia
• Nervous System Irritability
• Sedentary Lifestyle
• Worry, grief

All these factors paralyse the intestinal vasomotors leading to distension and engorgement of the splanchnic vessels especially the veins.

Treatment aims at

• increasing abdominal pressure (thus blood flow)
• Stimulating splanchnic vasomotors thus relieving stasis
• increasing blood flow especially in liver to hasten elimination of the toxins

This is achieved by
