Neck sprain as a result of car accident or similar. If symptoms persist after 3 days see a doctor.
Symptoms: Muscle spasm, tenderness, guarded movement, swelling headache
Treatment:
First 24 hours:-
- Ice Pack to back and sides of neck, upper back and back of head - 30min then off for one hour. With Hot Foot Bath
- Wear neck collar all day even when sleeping
Second and third days :-
- Fomentations 3 min with ice rub 15sec, 6 changes. 3x day
- Collar as above
Fourth day or when inflammation begins to subside:-
- Ice Pack then Trigger Point Workup to neck and shoulders
