Treatment:

• hot Sitz Bath with Hot Foot Bath (hotter than the Sitz Bath)

If this does not work try:-

• Alternate Sitz with Hot Foot Bath
• Hot Foot Bath alone in mild cases
• Hot Leg Pack with thick hot pack centred over prostate, change every 15min and rub vigorously with cold sponge. Repeat 4 times.
  • Finish with Cold Mitten Friction or Cool Shower.
• Therapeutic Diet and elimination of irritants eg. tobacco, caffeine, alcohol, chocolate, vinegar, spices, food additives and drugs

For Urinary Retention:-

• Very hot Fomentation to Spine 20min.

Contra-indications:

• Cold Sitz Bath

General Method:

• Hot Tub Bath 38°C 1 min, 32° 5 min, lower to 24°C for 5 min, lower minimum temperature 0.5°C per day to 15°C
• hot Spinal Douche to lumbar area and thighs 30 seconds then
  • general Neutral Douche 2-3 min at high pressure
• prolonged Neutral Tub Bath 30-40 min or Sitz 30-60 min
• spinal Pail Pour 37°C 5 min
• Cold Mitten Friction

Problems:

• Prostate Pain
• Chronic Prostate Enlargement
• Sexual Excess

Contra-indications

• When painful, avoid general cold, cold sitz or foot baths or chilling of the feet
