Spastic spinal paralysis - occur after transverse myelitis and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis - constant muscular rigidity

In acute onset: use Pure Sedatives

• rest - partial may be alright
• gentle spinal extension
• spinal Fomentations BID followed by
  • spinal Heating Compress
  • Hot Foot Bath and Hot Water Bottle to keep limbs warm

In subacute stage...

• positive Galvanic Current to spine
• mild Spinal Alternate Applications to part affected

Chronic stage: when need for rest is past...

• prolonged Neutral Tub Bath 35-36°C must feel warm to patient begin at 20min and increase to 3-4hrs daily or
• prolonged Neutral Douche (spray) to spine or
• Fomentations to spine
• Continuous Tub Bath - very good effect
• continue for months but will relieve spasticity

Later begin mild Tonics

• Wet Hand Rub
• moderate Cold Mitten Friction

Later - light Massage

For flaccid paralysis use Tonic Sedatives
