Antipyretic

• Like an uncovered Wet Sheet Pack
• Evaporation may be encouraged further, to tolerance, by
  • Fanning by hand or electric
  • Keeping sheet wet
  • Moderate friction applied over sheet

Hot in:

• Retention Fevers
• nervous cases
• dislike of cold

Procedure:

• Wring well from water 55-60°C or as hot as the patient can bear
• Fan sheet and apply gentle friction
• Repeat in 2 min or when feeling of chill

Cold rarely used except where skin very congested in Production Fever

• vigorous rubbing to maintain circulation
